A photo on flickr.com is getting a lot more press than any of my others...

So as I have mentioned I have a flickr pro account which I use to host all of my photos. Flickr allows you to see how many times a certain photo has been viewed and will also rank all your photos, showing the top 100 viewed.

So anyway, I upload, name and tag all my photos. The tags on the photos dictate which ones will be shown to users when they search for them on flickr.

Upon just checking this most viewed list I find my <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/chrismiller/6795429/" title=Chris, downshirt">second most viewed photo has had 146 hits, whereas the most viewed photo has just reached 400 hits, all because it has been tagged with blowjob.

I give you BJ?:

I’m wondering what the most frequently searched tag is?
- Chris

So it’s exam revision time again, what does this mean? It means it’s time to buy one of the most addictive games you have ever played!

World of Warcraft is an amazing game! Having played Warcraft all those years ago, then Warcraft II, and more recently Warcraft III, I am a huge fan of the genre.

This game, although costing £8 a month to play and can only be played online, is still an instant hit with me, I have managed to rack up more hours playing this in the last few days than I have studying (no great feat some will be saying!).

Anyway, the game is amazing, you should definitely buy it, here are some screens from it:

Flickr has given me a little present to say thank you.

So Flickr has decided that since I am such a good customer that they will reward me!

You may have heard on the grapevine that we planned to
reward our dear Flickr members who bought a Pro Account in
the early days. Well, it’s true! And since you’re one of
those lovely people, here’s a little something to say YOU
ROCK!

1. Double what you paid for!
Your original 1 year pro account has been doubled to
2 years, and your new expiry date is Mar 4, 2007.

2. More capacity!
Now you can upload 2 GB per month.

3. 2 free Pro Accounts to give away to your friends!
This won’t be activated for a day or two, but when it
is, you’ll see a note on your home page telling you
what to do.

Thank you so much for putting your money where your mouth
is and supporting us, even while we’re in beta. Your
generosity and cold, hard cash helped us get where we are
today.

They’re right, I do ROCK!
- Chris

Edit: I have given away the first account to Derek.

I've finally gotten rid of my Gallery software and moved onto brighter pastures.

Yesterday evening I purchased an account with , which describes itself as: “a fancy photo sharing thing”.

Most of you will have heard of flickr as it seems to be booming with new members and loads of bloggers seem to be using flickr to host pictures for their blog.

I signed up for a free account a few weeks ago and had been browsing through the content and trying to assess the usefulness of having an account (having 3Gb of server space and another Gb backup has meant my space needs have always been more than satisfied) and how it differed from the PHP Gallery I had been using.

After just a few hours playing around with flickr I had decided that it was much better than the Gallery I had, so I thought I would use it to upload pics from now on. The only problem with this is you can only upload 10Mb of pictures per month, although this is a fair enough figure, and most of the time I wouldn’t ever generate 10Mb of pictures. However there are some times when I manage to rack up an obscene number of pictures at one (parties, ends of term – which is ever nearing, and so forth) and 10Mb (hell 50Mb) wouldn’t cut it.

So I had a look around the site to see how much a full account was, currently due to flickr still being in its beta stage the sign up fee is only $41.77 (which works out just over £20 at this time) for a year, what the hell, it’s only £20.

So I signed up to flickr pro which offers:

1Gb monthly upload (10Mb in free version)

Unlimited storage capacity (only last 100 photos are user accessible in the free version)

Unlimited bandwidth (dunno what this is for the free version)

Unlimited photosets (limited to 3 in the free version)

Full size images archived (smaller ones are archived in the free version)

I am sitting at the moment uploading aall my photos to flickr and am nearly finished. So far I have been able to use around 20% of the monthly limit. I fully intend to start taking more photos and try to at least put a dent in the limit each month. There has been many times this year when walking around I have thought that something would make a great picture, but have never had my camera with me, hopefully I’ll start carrying it around and taking some oportunist shots to post.

Another thing about flickr is that it seems to tie in quite nicely with both my PowerBook and PC. On my PB I can export photos to flickr using an iPhoto plugin, on WindowsXP I have a desktop uploader. flickr also allows you to post photo blog posts to many types of blog (including WordPress blogs).

Anyway, you should try it out!

A photo which I took this morning.

On my way out to head to University this morning, I saw something that I thought looked funny. I was then telling Matt about it and he was saying I should have taken a photo of it.

I thought no more as I was already well on my way to Uni and would have been late if I had doubled back. On my way home I passed the same scene again and this time took the opportunity to take a picture.

The image is hard to see properly because of the lighting, it is a half eaten candy apple which has sat out during the night. All the red glaze has come off and run down the road giving the impression that this apple has been cut in half and left to bleed to death in the street.

Dark images from the centre of Glasgow and perhaps a start to a new photoblogging trend on this blog?

The site has been acting up latley, so has one student doing a MSci at Glasgow and another doing an MSci in Aberdeen...

On Friday night there were celebrations taking place, most of the people who were working it the lab over the summer were finally finished their placements. For this reason I hopped on a train from Dumfries and made my way back to Glasgow getting in at about 5.10. Then in was off home to get ready, drop off my things and then go to join the gang.

I met everyone in Curlers and had some food, then most of us went on to Lauren‘s flat. Time was spent there having some drinks and a lot of laughs. Then it was decided that the hardcore would go onto a club, The Shack. So it was on the road again, the plan was for myself, Stevo and Steve to head over to Rach’s flat, pick her up and head into town in a taxi.

This, unfortunately didn’t happen. After trying for some time to get a taxi, we decided that it was useless and it was perhaps best to head off to Rach’s flat and have some drinks there. This was then the new plan which was successful. Whilst at Rach’s flat there was some men-dressed-like-women antics, which I have pictures of! Yes, it’s true. Steve and Stevo were in fact dressed up as women for some time during the evening… this was funny as hell (in fact some may say it was a hella funny). A gallery has been set up to show the world the events of this fateful night.

Below are a few highlights of the album… all the thumbnails are clickable and will take you to a full-size printable, copyable and e-mailable version of the image. It is possible to leave comments in the gallery attached to individual pictures. So if you particularly enjoy any of the pictures of Steve or Stevo leave a little message and I’ll be sure to see that they get it (I’m referring to all the guys and girls out there).

There are a few images of a ludo style mat which Rach has in her flat, we (after the antics) played ludo and of course I won!
