I’ve just ordered a new HD television from amazon.co.uk! This pretty much marks the completion of my newly refurbished bedroom and doubles as a nice Christmas present from my folks.

The new TV replaces my, in long need of replacing, 15″ portable which I bought more than 6 years ago. The TV I opted for was from the Samsung R72 Series (26″ version).

It boasts an impressive array of features on the website, including HD-readyness and an integrated digital tuner. HD seemed the way to go and ensures that whenever this new format war is settled that either of the HD-DVD formats will be viewable on the set.

Due to the recent demise of my current Freeview box, i.e. it stopped working at all, an integrated digital tuner is probably a plus and saves having to have that pesky box sitting around taking up space.

Most of the other stuff on the site looks to be pretty much jargon for sharp picture and good colour quality. Other than that there looks to be a pretty cool looking PIP (Picture In Picture) mode which allows you to watch TV whilst playing a console, or watch a DVD whilst flicking through TV channels.

Other than these extremely endearing features I mainly bought the thing for the “Ingenious Swivel Stand”:

The LCD TVs ingenious swivel stand affords consumers the ultimate flexibility in positioning the TV in their house. It allows for mobility and ergonomic comfort in your house.

It swivels on the stand, crazy!

The guy from Friends has his own TV show!

A few nights ago I watched the first two episodes of Joey, the spinoff from Friends.

The show itself isn’t too bad, and after vowing to myself that I’d never watch it I may find myself going back on that. Worth a watch – not as good as Friends but still a good way to waste half an hour.

Wasting time is a full time job!

Howdy everyone!

So it’s the middle of the night again, this seems to happen to me daily. I’m sitting here at my laptop, thinking about going to sleep then getting up early to carry on working on my DAS exercise. Then I get to thinking about how much I still have to do, then also about how much time I have left to do it… I’ve left everything too late as usual.

So here we have it folks: It’s my first all nighter of this year! I have managed to do way less work than I had hoped to do today. It’s strange how having work to do focuses you to do all those things which you normally have “no time to do”, i.e. when you are sitting on your arse watching TV.

So far today I have:

Done work on this site

Watched some TV, not only watched TV but watched repeats of shows I had already seen!

Read a few more chapters of the new Terry Pratchett book, Going Postal (very good by the way)

Caught the end half of Blow that my flatmates were watching

Oh yeah, I also did some DAS.

That extra hour today really helped me cram all those things into it. I’m just looking for more things to do to put off the inevitable work which I will have to get on with. I think this calls for another chapter of Going Postal, followed by some refreshments and then back to the coding. Oh the joy!

I love university.
