At 10:40 AM on the 26th December 2006 we had an earthquake lasting just 10 seconds and as I say measured 3.5 on the Richter scale. It’s the largest seismic activity to be recorded in the UK this year and the strongest recorded in this area since 1969, also on boxing day!

Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope you have a good day and get all the socks and oranges you can handle.

Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?
It’s the time that every Santa has a ball
Does he ride a red nosed reindeer?
Does he turn up on his sleigh?
Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?

So here it is,
Merry Christmas,
Everybody’s having fun,
Look to the future now
It’s only just begun.

Are you waiting for the family to arrive?
Are you sure you’ve got the room to spare inside?
Does your Granny always tell you
That the old songs are the best,
Then she’s up and rock ‘n’ rollin’ with the rest…

So here it is,
Merry Christmas,
Everybody’s having fun,
Look to the future now
It’s only just begun.

Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?
Are you hoping that the snow will to start to fall?
Do you ride on down the hillside
In a bobby you have made?
When you land upon your head then you’ve been Slade.

So here it is,
Merry Christmas,
Everybody’s having fun,
Look to the future now
It’s only just begun.

Merry Christmas to all,

I’ve just ordered a new HD television from amazon.co.uk! This pretty much marks the completion of my newly refurbished bedroom and doubles as a nice Christmas present from my folks.

The new TV replaces my, in long need of replacing, 15″ portable which I bought more than 6 years ago. The TV I opted for was from the Samsung R72 Series (26″ version).

It boasts an impressive array of features on the website, including HD-readyness and an integrated digital tuner. HD seemed the way to go and ensures that whenever this new format war is settled that either of the HD-DVD formats will be viewable on the set.

Due to the recent demise of my current Freeview box, i.e. it stopped working at all, an integrated digital tuner is probably a plus and saves having to have that pesky box sitting around taking up space.

Most of the other stuff on the site looks to be pretty much jargon for sharp picture and good colour quality. Other than that there looks to be a pretty cool looking PIP (Picture In Picture) mode which allows you to watch TV whilst playing a console, or watch a DVD whilst flicking through TV channels.

Other than these extremely endearing features I mainly bought the thing for the “Ingenious Swivel Stand”:

The LCD TVs ingenious swivel stand affords consumers the ultimate flexibility in positioning the TV in their house. It allows for mobility and ergonomic comfort in your house.

It swivels on the stand, crazy!

It's been nearly a month since I have last posted.

Good gosh, it’s been nearly a month since my last post, that’s pretty bad!

A lot has happened since then: Christmas & New Year (you may have noticed), the end of the first term at uni, my 21st birthday and much more.

As for Christmas and New Year, I had a good, however busy, Christmas and a very drunken New Year. I hope everyone has had a equally good Christmas and New Year and that Santa was good to everyone!

For my birthday I had a party back in Dumfries. Derek, Gary, Matt and Lauren all came down from Glasgow to it, thanks guys for coming down. Matt provided me with the obligatory cakes, flowers and porn, Gary and Derek bringing me alcohol, cheers guys. Thanks also John., Troy, and all my friends and family from home who came to the party.

Many of you will have noticed that for the past month this site has been up and down more than a cheap whore’s knickers in a busy brothel. The problem I was having was that apache seemed to be crashing and requiring me to restart it every day or so. This problem is apparently caused by a Debian package that was installed on my server. This has hopefully been fixed by downgrading the package to an earlier version. If anyone sees any problems feel free to e-mail me about them.

I have finally got my arse in gear and picked up my matric card from uni as well as sorting out my loan and travel expences are well on their way to being claimed. All in all, I’ve got my shit sorted out. Hopefully the server will remain up and there will be no need for further tom foolery on my part. Also I will hopefully not leave it nearly a whole month until I post again.

I have gotten out of the habit of blogging (obviously), hopefully I’ll find something worthwhile to post soon.

Collecting for charity, you must be a nice guy!

So the boy Mark and I went into town this afternoon. He was up for some Christmas shopping and I just fancied a wander around.

We were just walking into USC and there’s a guy (perhaps the security guard) collecting money for some random charity. Mark stops and fishes into his pocket, pulling out his 54p, counting out the 4p and putting the 50 back into his pocket. I feel obliged to do the same, getting a £1 coin and about 30p worth of shrapnel out of my pocket.

Both of us drop the money into the bucket and the guy turns round to say “Thanks”. All very fine and well. Then whilst we were walking off, under his breath the security guard says: “Fuck off”.

What? I just gave the guy money for standing around with a bucket and he tells me to fuck off. That’s the last time I’ll be giving money to charity (or the homeless / church / children / anyone).

Merry Christmas. Fuck off.
