I’ve not much food in the house today and since it’s not long until payday I’m rather poor, so I decided to make whatever I could based on what I had lying around. It turned out to be a masterpiece if I do say so myself.

Try it out:

Chicken breast

Pasta

Tin of chopped tomatoes

2 cloves of garlic

1 onion

½ punnet of mushrooms

½ courgette

Olive oil

Oregano

Basil

I started by slicing the courgette and onion and crushing the garlic. Then mixed half the garlic and some oil together, put the chicken breast, mushrooms, courgette and onion into an oven dish and poured the oil and garlic over, added a bit of dried oregano and basil and put in the oven for about half an hour.

Then put the tin of tomatoes into a pot, added the rest of the garlic, a bit more olive oil and a load of dried oregano and basil. When simmering I added the contents of the oven dish and simmered for 20 more minutes. I hope you’ll figure out what I did with the pasta on your own!

It was damn fine (see picture) and I’d highly recommend it.

I’ve decided that instead of spreading my photos across the entire site with photo posts in my blog and a separate gallery section that I should really have all the photo related materials together as it probably makes more sense.

Thus I introduce to you… Phoblog and my newly updated Gallery.

This marks the end of the Photoblog category on my blog, not that it really took off in any capacity, however all new photo posts will be made in my new Phoblog. So contain your excitement and have a look.

Flock, a new browsing experience?

I’ve just downloaded and started playing with Flock, a new browser which is integrated with various types of online services like flickr, del.icio.us and blogging tools like WordPress (I’m actually writing this through the Flock blogging tool).

I’ve only been playing with it for a short while, but my initial impressions are that it’s pretty damn sweet.

It allows you to post things straight from flickr, downloading your photo stream and showing it to you, so there’s no need to go to the flickr site and grab the photo url or the code you want to paste into your post, you simply have to drag in the photo!

Anyway, I’m impressed and you should get yourself a copy to try it out.

I’ve been playing around with some of the flickr applications that are linked off the website today. I found some cool things that I think you should all see.

There are 2 web based apps that I liked. The first which maps the relationships between flickr users and is called flickrGraph (here’s my map)

The other web based application, Colr Pickr, allows you to pick a colour and then chooses some photos from the Color Fields pool which match it. Try it out, you get some really nice looking pics back!

If you love flickr… then you might like these.

A wallet made out of money, who would've thunk it?

So a while ago I was directed to MoneyWallet.org a cool site which shows you how to make a wallet out of $1 bills. I thought it would have been ace to make one but decided not to and got back to work. That was until last Friday when it was decided that I would make the wallet out of money!

So after a painstaking hour and a quarter I had managed to make a wallet that was solely made from 20 fresh $1 bills, no tape, no clue and a hell of a lot of folding. The results can be seen bellow:

The wallet really is ace, although a little vulnerable to water! Make your own today, the Ladies (or Gents) will love it!

A photo on flickr.com is getting a lot more press than any of my others...

So as I have mentioned I have a flickr pro account which I use to host all of my photos. Flickr allows you to see how many times a certain photo has been viewed and will also rank all your photos, showing the top 100 viewed.

So anyway, I upload, name and tag all my photos. The tags on the photos dictate which ones will be shown to users when they search for them on flickr.

Upon just checking this most viewed list I find my <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/chrismiller/6795429/" title=Chris, downshirt">second most viewed photo has had 146 hits, whereas the most viewed photo has just reached 400 hits, all because it has been tagged with blowjob.

I give you BJ?:

Flickr has given me a little present to say thank you.

So Flickr has decided that since I am such a good customer that they will reward me!

You may have heard on the grapevine that we planned to
reward our dear Flickr members who bought a Pro Account in
the early days. Well, it’s true! And since you’re one of
those lovely people, here’s a little something to say YOU
ROCK!

1. Double what you paid for!
Your original 1 year pro account has been doubled to
2 years, and your new expiry date is Mar 4, 2007.

2. More capacity!
Now you can upload 2 GB per month.

3. 2 free Pro Accounts to give away to your friends!
This won’t be activated for a day or two, but when it
is, you’ll see a note on your home page telling you
what to do.

Thank you so much for putting your money where your mouth
is and supporting us, even while we’re in beta. Your
generosity and cold, hard cash helped us get where we are
today.

They’re right, I do ROCK!
- Chris

Edit: I have given away the first account to Derek.

The project has been handed in, the night out at Café West then to the GU.

The end is nigh, the project has been handed in and the Easter holidays are upon us.

As mentioned, Thursday saw the handing in of the 4th year solo projects and the 3rd year group projects, after this was the compsoc end of term event at Café West followed by the GU.

My project was finished and ready for handing in at 3:30 (30 minutes early!), after handing it in it was off to Jim’s Bar via the food factory to grab some lunch.

Then after a few drinks it was Café West time, whilst there we were kept entertained by Stevie, Neil, Steve and Derek all having a pop at DJing for the night. After a lot more drink there it was off to the GU and to The Hive.

Finishing the project is strange, it has been coming for so long, yet now that it’s done I’m kind of missing not having to do it. On Friday, after my project demo, I was feeling really charged and ready to do some more work on the project even though I had nothing more to do. I’m sure I’ll be able to channel all this drive into my revision, or perhaps playing some computer games!

My photos from the night out are available on flickr. There is a set containing all the photos from the night, or you can view the photos as a slideshow.

I encourage everyone to join flickr and also to join the Glasgow DCS group, here you can add any photos you have of nights out or other things relating to the department, as well as post to the group only forums.

Hope everyone had a fun night and your easter holidays are relaxed and fun.
- Chris

Today in the flat we had a new freezer delivered. As with any large delivery there was a lot of packaging. Packaging = polystyrene, cardboard, and that wierd foam sheeting stuff.

A new addition to the family.

So the photoblogging hasn’t really taken off as of yet, this is due to my camera being buggered – it just won’t take any pictures. However I still have my phone to take some (lesser quality) photos.

Around a month ago my parents got a new puppy which was only 6 weeks old. Whilst at home during the weekend I managed to snap a few pics of him on my phone.

The pictures aren’t that good because he wouldn’t sit still for long enough for me to take them.

Hopefully more soon,

A photo which I took this morning.

On my way out to head to University this morning, I saw something that I thought looked funny. I was then telling Matt about it and he was saying I should have taken a photo of it.

I thought no more as I was already well on my way to Uni and would have been late if I had doubled back. On my way home I passed the same scene again and this time took the opportunity to take a picture.

The image is hard to see properly because of the lighting, it is a half eaten candy apple which has sat out during the night. All the red glaze has come off and run down the road giving the impression that this apple has been cut in half and left to bleed to death in the street.

Dark images from the centre of Glasgow and perhaps a start to a new photoblogging trend on this blog?
