My PC is now up and running again... eventually.

A while ago I decided that I was going to reformat my PC and reinstall Windows XP on it as it was beginning to get clogged up with crap (as is inevitable with a Windows machine).

Anyway, I started the installation and the computer rebooted, although started to boot off the hard disk rather than the CD. So I went into the BIOS and changed the boot sequence so that CDs came before the disk. Whilst doing this I managed to change another one of the settings by mistake (I think it was the FSB speed), anyway after quitting the BIOS my machine rebooted, I intended to go back into the BIOS to change my mistake back to normal, but nothing happened.

After a few attempts to fix it I decided to leave it. Then another try about a month later at a flat party (yes it’s sad, but there were a lot of computing science students there!) a few of the guys had a bash but to no avail, thanks for trying. For a while since then I’ve been meaning to take the PC to G-Force on Union Street to Dave who works there. Today I did so, and Dave had a good play around with the machine, testing all the parts.

Eventually after testing all the parts and trying another motherboard we deduced that my MSI motherboard was anally raped. So after a trip round to Linx computer shop to buy another my PC was back up and running.

Cheers Dave.

From here on in Mateusz, the 19 year old Pole, and I talked about what Glog?w is like as well as university and more on summer work.

A very random occurrence, which gave me a nervous chuckle when it happened.

Something which was written for my 21st birthday.

As I mentioned in my last post, December saw the passing of my 21st birthday. In my parents pub in Dumfries, one of the regulars, June, usually writes poetry for the birthdays of friends. I am no exception, therefore on the night of my party I had a poem read out about myself. I thought I would share this with the world.

Chris celebrates his birthday today,
at twenty one what more can we say,
the quote when a man reaches this age,
that’s their final growing up stage.

He’s all the man he will ever be,
so we just sit back and wait to see,
if being this age changes his life,
this time next year he could have a wife.

He likes to enjoy his time off you see,
goes up the town single and free,
that’s at the moment but just wait,
some poor girl will take the bait.

Then the old sparks will begin to fly,
no longer the apple of his mothers eye,
parties all night and sleeps all day,
likes to do things his own way.

A pleasant lad is our Chris,
with him there is no hit or miss,
always the same no matter what,
what you see is what you’ve got.

So laid back tomorrow will do,
gets there in the end that’s his point of view,
joking aside we think your great,
the future in store is your fate.

Tonight’s your night enjoy your fame,
you’ll never be twenty one again,
celebrate and have a ball,
let your hair down give it your all.

Don’t do anything we wouldn’t do,
happy birthday from us to you.

Thanks to June for writing such an epic. I’m sure some day children will be reading it in school and be inspired to grow up just like me!

It's been nearly a month since I have last posted.

Good gosh, it’s been nearly a month since my last post, that’s pretty bad!

A lot has happened since then: Christmas & New Year (you may have noticed), the end of the first term at uni, my 21st birthday and much more.

As for Christmas and New Year, I had a good, however busy, Christmas and a very drunken New Year. I hope everyone has had a equally good Christmas and New Year and that Santa was good to everyone!

For my birthday I had a party back in Dumfries. Derek, Gary, Matt and Lauren all came down from Glasgow to it, thanks guys for coming down. Matt provided me with the obligatory cakes, flowers and porn, Gary and Derek bringing me alcohol, cheers guys. Thanks also John., Troy, and all my friends and family from home who came to the party.

Many of you will have noticed that for the past month this site has been up and down more than a cheap whore’s knickers in a busy brothel. The problem I was having was that apache seemed to be crashing and requiring me to restart it every day or so. This problem is apparently caused by a Debian package that was installed on my server. This has hopefully been fixed by downgrading the package to an earlier version. If anyone sees any problems feel free to e-mail me about them.

I have finally got my arse in gear and picked up my matric card from uni as well as sorting out my loan and travel expences are well on their way to being claimed. All in all, I’ve got my shit sorted out. Hopefully the server will remain up and there will be no need for further tom foolery on my part. Also I will hopefully not leave it nearly a whole month until I post again.

I have gotten out of the habit of blogging (obviously), hopefully I’ll find something worthwhile to post soon.
- Chris
