Music

Anything, mostly mod, indie and rock. Favorite bands include OCS, Metallica, The Beatles, Elvis and many others.

Books

I have regular spurts of reading which I use to read various books. I am an avid fan of Terry Pratchett and have recently read all the Harry Potter books which are available and loved them.

You will find a more up-to-date portrayal of what I am reading by visiting the books section of my site.

Gaming

I enjoy gaming on my PC and Mac, I have recently found a new love of console gaming as well. I enjoy all kinds of games, mostly first person shooters and strategy games for the PC and arcade-ish games for consoles.

I own a PC which runs most games smoothly, upon writing this I am playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and Locomotion (an updated version of Transport Tycoon)

As well as the PC, I own a Nintendo GameCube and a Nintendo DS. I enjoy the Mario range of games over both platforms and also regularly play Serious Sam: Final Encounter and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, both on the Cube.

Interests

I enjoy watching films, reading, listening to music, getting drunk, and so forth. My favorite author is Terry Pratchett, especially his Discworld series. I enjoy all kinds of films, my favorites including the Evil Dead Trilogy, Old School, The Shining, I could go on, but I’m not going to.

I am interested in computing (thus the degree choice), I am also quite obviously interested in web-design and have been teaching myself PHP, this is the result. I have learned various programming languages throughout my degree program, inlcuding Ada, Java, C, Haskell, HTML, XHTML, PHP and Linux shell scripting.

Hardware

I own a personally built PC running an Athlon XP 2800, 1Gb RAM, 128Mb graphics card with Microsoft Windows XP and Linux Redhat 9.0 dual boot. I also own a 15″ PowerBook G4. The majority of this site was written on my PowerBook remotely on the server where this is run using Emacs.

Hosting

Just a note to say that this site is hosted via a virtual machine which I rent from a UK company called Bytemark Hosting.
